Meet Dr. Susan Salem

Nearly three decades of gentle, whole-person chiropractic care, grown one referral at a time.

Dr. Susan Salem, chiropractor at Diablo Chiropractic
Her Story

Healed by chiropractic before she ever practiced it

Dr. Salem's interest in chiropractic care is far-reaching. As a child, she was always interested in health and knew she wanted to make a positive difference in other people's lives. While on her high school gymnastics team, the Bay Area native suffered a spinal and knee injury. After many visits to several medical doctors that did not resolve her injuries, her parents took her to see a chiropractor, as her father had recently started chiropractic care for himself. After this turn of events, Dr. Salem made a full recovery and was back in training.

From her chiropractor, she heard "the chiropractic story," that the body has the power to heal itself when it is properly aligned, enabling it to function optimally. From that moment, Dr. Salem knew that this was how she wanted to help others.

In 1983, Dr. Salem received her BA in sociology, with an emphasis in social work and geriatrics, from California State University East Bay (formerly CSU Hayward). She graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in 1993. After graduation, she joined the college's Health Center as an intern supervisor. Seeking more direct patient involvement, she started Diablo Chiropractic in 1995 and moved the practice from Danville to Walnut Creek in 2006.
