Susan Salem, DC

Susan Salem, DC

Dr. Salem's interest in chiropractic care is far-reaching. As a child, she always had an interest in health and knew that she wanted to make a positive difference in other people's lives. While on her high school gymnastics team, the Bay Area native suffered a spine and knee injury. After many visits to several medical doctors that did not result in resolution of her injuries, her parents took her to see a chiropractor, as her father had recently started chiropractic care for himself. After this turn of events, Dr. Salem made a full recovery and was back in training!

From her chiropractor, she heard "the chiropractic story," about how the body has the power to heal itself when it is in proper alignment so that it can perform its functions optimally. From that moment, Dr. Salem knew that this was how she wanted to help others.

In 1983, Dr. Salem received her BA in sociology, with an emphasis in social work and geriatrics, from California State University East Bay (formerly CSU Hayward). Dr. Salem graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in 1993. Upon her graduation, she joined LCCW's Health Center as an intern supervisor. Seeking more personal involvement with patients, in 1995 she started Diablo Chiropractic, and in 2006 moved the practice from Danville to Walnut Creek. In addition, she is a member of:

Dr. Salem was involved with the LCCW Alumni Board from 1999 to 2009, proudly serving as President for a two-year term from 2005–2007. As Past President, she concurrently served on the Board of Regents from 2007–2009. This involvement has allowed her to give back to her chosen profession as well as the college that provided her with an excellent education.

To this day, Dr. Salem attends continuing education classes annually in order to stay current with clinical and professional information. Currently, she is in the process of receiving chiropractic pediatrics certification from the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice and the Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics.

When not providing health care to others at Diablo Chiropractic, Dr. Salem enjoys walking, hiking, yoga, cooking, and spending time with her husband Sergei, their family and friends.
